POSITION:

Physical Education & Health Education Teacher Conference Support–Teacher - Office of School Wellness Programs

Approximately 6 positions available

Supervisor: Dignorah Laporte and Sarah Cocuzzo

                             

LOCATION:

NYC Department of Education 

Office of School Wellness Programs (OSWP) 

335 Adams Street, 5th Floor

Brooklyn, NY 11201

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Licensed and appointed physical education subject-certified teacher.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • At least three (3) years of satisfactory experience (Highly Effective/Effective) within NYC Public Schools. 
  • Experience planning and facilitating professional learning in a variety of modalities (remote, in-person and/or hybrid).
  • Understanding of Physical Education and/or Health Education curricular and instructional models, NYC PE & Health Ed. Scope and Sequences and other related instructional programs within NYC Public Schools.
  • Experience using student data (e.g., NYC FITNESSGRAM) to plan differentiated curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
  • Knowledge and understanding of national and NYSED PE & Health Education standards. 
  • Experience in reviewing and creating instructional resources for students and teachers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (e.g., Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and other relevant applications.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
      • Excellent record of attendance and punctuality.
      • Priority given to Office of School Wellness Programs Staff. 

     

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Co-plan with supervisor to create professional learning session/s that directly connect to the Chancellor’s four pillars, including priority instructional programs such as nutrition education, the NYC Reads initiative, and mindfulness in schools. 
    • Discuss and implement direct feedback from supervisor to enhance the quality of professional learning materials including presentation slides, session handouts or any relative resources used or distributed during the professional learning session. 
    • Discuss, plan, and apply adult learning theory to presentations with the support and guidance of the supervisor. 
    • Report progress to the conference planning committee and/or supervisor as requested. 
    • Additional responsibilities as needed.

     

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    • Spring 2024 - June 2024
    • Hours vary by teacher facilitator assigned.  Additional hours may be granted upon the hiring manager's approval.
    • Specific hours and schedules are not guaranteed.  Schedule, location and hours to be determined and will remain subject to change based on project and funding ability. 

     

    Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

     

    SALARY:

    Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
