The New York City Department of Education offers free breakfast, lunch and afterschool meals to all NYC public school students during the school year.
What’s on the Menu Today?
We create our menus and water services to make sure that students get the nutrients they need to think clearly and concentrate on learning. Seeing students succeed in school is what drives our passion to serve high-quality meals every day.
Use the Find A School tool to find the menu served at your school.
Download the School Food App
View menus, submit reviews and even use the "FastPass" to skip the line. The app is available for Android and iOS.
According to program rules, two milk options must be offered to students. OFNS provides low fat white milk, non-fat white milk, and non-fat chocolate milk. Schools that wish to eliminate chocolate milk as an option should communicate their request to the School Food Service Manager assigned to their school
Students who are lactose intolerant may request lactose-free milk. A doctor’s note must be submitted to the school nurse stating that the student is lactose intolerant. Please note that due to supply and delivery schedules, it may take 2-3 weeks from the time of the request for lactose-free milk to be available.
Recent Menu Changes
Effective July 1, 2019, the following items will be no longer offered on NYC public school menus. Suitable replacements are being sourced :
- Salami and cheese sandwich
- Cheese and "turkey ham" sandwich
- Bologna and cheese sandwich
- Pre-sliced "turkey ham"
- Pre-sliced Canadian turkey bacon
Sandwiches using different kinds of pre-sliced turkey, other than "turkey ham," are still available.
This change is in response to new research findings from the World Health Organization (WHO) on processed meats and input from our students and communities.
