Family Welcome Centers

Family Welcome Centers serve NYC families all year round with enrollment and admissions.

  • Our staff members are available to provide support 8am to 5pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8am to 3pm on Friday, by email, by phone, or in person.
  • All Family Welcome Centers will be closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
  • The Petrides Family Welcome Center, on Staten Island, will be closed on June 29, June 30, and July 1 for in-person support while the building undergoes planned maintenance. On these days, families can contact the office for remote assistance or visit another Family Welcome Center for in-person support.

PLEASE NOTE: We are currently prioritizing support for families whose children need a school now and need to register. We are also reviewing all transfer requests noted on our Transfers page. Before you reach out, please review the "When you email us" section below.

Need a School, Program, or Child Care Now?

Here's what to do and who to contact:

  • For children 6 weeks to 2 years old. Families who qualify based on income and/or other factors can enroll their children in EarlyLearn programs at any time of year: visit our EarlyLearn website or email the Child Care Eligibility Team at CCapplication@schools.nyc.gov to learn more.
  • For 3-K or Pre-K. There is a pre-K seat for every four-year-old child in New York City. Due to high demand, we may not be able to make placements for all 3-K applicants. Need additional help? Contact the Elementary Admissions Team at ESEnrollment@schools.nyc.gov.
  • For Elementary or Middle School. Contact your zoned school directly to enroll. Find your zoned school and that school's contact information by entering your child's home address at schoolsearch.schools.nyc. If you don't have a zoned school, contact a Family Welcome Center; we can help you find a school and enroll.
  • For High School. Contact your local Family Welcome Center (scroll down for email addresses by district).
  • For emergency medical or safety transfers. Contact your local Family Welcome Center (scroll down for email addresses by district). We care deeply about your child’s education and well-being, and we will update this page as soon as we're able to process additional transfers.

Please note: Families who are temporarily living outside of NYC due to the ongoing pandemic but whose primary residence is in NYC are eligible to participate in admissions this year.
