Microsoft Software for Students and Families

The DOE provides free Microsoft software to students and families with education-specific content that supports your child's academic improvement.

The Microsoft 365 A5 for students use benefit license allows students to download Office on their personal computers. This includes access to all the Office desktop apps including Microsoft Teams, with best-in-class security, compliance, and analytics. Students can install the latest version of Office on up to five PC or Mac computers and on other mobile devices, including Windows tablets and the iPad.

Students can go to https://portal.office.com, and follow these instructions to install Microsoft Office:

Sign in with your DOE Credentials (username@nycstudents.net)

Click on the Install Apps button to install the software. This will download a file named OfficeSetup.exe to your Downloads folder. Follow the installation directions that are displayed on your screen.

Open any of the Microsoft Office Applications and sign in using your DOE Credentials. (username@nycstudents.net)

If students need help logging in, they should go to the password reset tool(Open external link) for students where they’ll need to enter their OSIS number and Date of Birth (DOB) to reset their passwords.
